Nut milks are quick and easy to make, full of nutrients and much more cost effective than buying them from the shops.
You can use a variety of nuts and seeds to make milks. From almonds, cashews and macadamias to coconut and hemp. They can all be made into delicious milk that can be added to smoothies, muesli or porridge, or on their own as a nutritious drink.
1 Cup Almonds/Cashews/Macadamias (soaked, preferably for 8 hours or overnight)
4 Cups Filtered Water
Sweetener of your choice: A few dates, maple syrup or raw honey (if you're not vegan)
Put the soaked nuts in the blender (I use a Nutribullet and it works really well for this) with the water and whichever sweetener you're using. Blend until it resembles milk, then strain through a nut milk bag or a sieve.
Now you have milk :)
You can use the left over pulp to make nut roasts or raw biscuits.
